Chai Flavored Coffee

Chai means tea but it has a distinctive flavor. To make your coffee have a similar flavor, try adding the flavors below to your filter basket and brew. Spoon the amount of the mixture you usually use for the amount of water you usually use and then brew normally.

Ingredients:
1 cup ground coffee
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ginger

Using Coffee Grounds

We’ve talked before about what to do with used coffee grounds. We found a few recipes on Livestrong.com that had some good ideas. We didn’t seem too crazy with the idea of the first one called “Spent Coffee and Salt Baked Heirloom Carrots” but there were some others that we might like to try.

You can use coffee grounds in “Red-Eye Gravy” by adding used coffee grounds to bacon grease. Another idea which sounds totally good is to add a tablespoon to overnight oats along with the chia – it would be fun to figure out which spots are chia and which are grounds!

Another totally good sounding idea is to add about 1/3 cup to brownie batter. One last idea they gave was to add it to marinade for beef or pork recipes. Add the grounds to cacao nibs, vinegar, honey, and basil. Sounds very different but might be really good.
