The first Starbucks was started in 1971 in Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington. (Yes, this is across from the Fish Market where the guys throw the fish to each other.) Jody learned Seattle was known for its seaports so the logo that Starbucks designed reflected that. Even though the design has changed through the years, it still has the familiar double-tailed Siren.
Starbucks has over 50 coffee blends on their menu. You can have a cup there or take home their beans and make your own coffee at home.
Starbucks cares about the farmers who grow their coffee. They are in partnership with Conservation International and together, they have developed guidelines to source their coffee ethically. They are continually audited and evaluated to measure their performance.
Starting with that one store in Seattle, Starbucks now has over 17,000 stores in 55 countries. To which Starbucks store do you go to get your coffee fix?
