We’ve posted about cold brew in the past. We just recently heard of New Orleans style cold brew. Of course we wondered what that is and how it’s made. Here is what we found out.
To make New Orleans cold brew, you need to add chicory to the grounds when you brew them. That may sound a little strange. I remember as a little girl, my grandpa making brewed chicory and drinking it in place of coffee sometimes. Let the grounds and chicory brew for about 12 hours. Using ground chicory, you don’t need too much. Add about a teaspoon or two for every half cup of ground coffee. It is supposed to enrich the taste.
I have seen chicory in tea bags in my grocery store. Perhaps you can open one of them and add to the grounds before cold brewing your coffee.
